The 3 roots of evil are Greed (Lobha), Hatred (Dosa) and delusion (Moha). The opposite are 3 roots of good: Non-greed (Alobha), Non-hatred (adosa) and Non-delusion (amoha).
Greed (Lobha): wishing, craving, self-indulgence, desire for wealth & fame, attachment and lust. It has the concept of grasping an object. It manifests as non-giving up and its proximate cause is seeing enjoyment in things that lead to clinging and not letting go. For example, hoarding things. Stealing, sexual misconduct and covetousness are demeritorious deeds due to greed. Greed's antidote is generosity (Dana).
Hatred (dosa): Resentment, dislike, grudge, anger, vengeful and irritability. It is vicious, spreads like poison, and its proximate cause is the grounds for annoyance. Killing, harsh speech, lying, slandering speech and ill-will are demeritorious deeds due to hatred. Hatred's antidote is loving kindness.
Delusion (Moha): Ignorance, wrong views and dullness. It has the characteristic of unknowing, absence of right view and is the chief evil root. Ignorance of 4 noble truths is the first link of dependent origination. Wrong view and frivolous talk are demeritorious deeds due to delusion. Delusion's antidote is wisdom.
